World Day of Prayer for Vocations - Thank You (Added 03 May 2009)

Between Thursday 30 April - Sunday 03 May 2009 we had a triduum of preparation with Eucharistic Adoration for Vocations in our Chapel. We thank all those who joined us to pray.

The fourth Sunday of Easter on 03 May is called The Good Shepherd Sunday and the Church celebrates the 46th World Day of Prayer for Vocations (WDPV). The WDPV is an event celebrated every year by the entire universal Church in order to pray for priestly and consecrated vocations. WDPV was instituted in 1964 by Pope Paul VI.

Remembering the counsel of Jesus: "The harvest is plentiful, but the labourers are few; pray therefore the Lord of the harvest to send out labourers into his harvest." (Mt 9:37), we acknowledge the great need to pray for vocations to the priesthood and to the consecrated life. The holiness of the Church depends essentially on union with Christ and on being open to the mystery of grace that operates in the heart of the Christian. Therefore, I should like to invite all the faithful to nurture an intimate relationship with Christ, the Teacher and Pastor of his people, imitating Mary who kept the divine mysteries in her heart and meditated upon them diligently (cf Lk 19) - Pope Benedict XVI

Let us continue to take the challenge of the Pope to pray for vocations so that we can be blessed with the gift of many to the priesthood and consecrated life.

Thank you to everyone who attended this amazing concert held over two days on Friday 19 October 2007 & Saturday 20 October 2007.

Special thanks go to the following who made this a memorable event:

  • Philippine Tours who presented the Melbourne Philharmonic Chinese Orchestra under the direction of Shen Pangeng
  • Nelson Estrella for the choreography
  • Carmela Sison for the narration.

This exciting dinner, show and concert helped to raise funds for the proposed development of the Rogate Oasis Youth Camp and reconstruction of the dormitory in Navotas, Laoag City in the Philippines.

The Rogate Oasis Youth Camp Project:

  • gives human and Christian formation to poor students who would like to get in touch with their spiritual life and enjoy the company of others in the journey of their faith
  • prepares these young people to discover God's plan in their lives and to face life's challenges

Your continued assistance for this important project will be greatly appreciated so please contact us if you would like to help.

FDZ Mission Day 2007 BBQ - Thank You (Added 05 May 2008)

On Sunday 13 April 2008, a special BBQ was held to raise funds for our Mission in Bolivia, South America. Funds from the BBQ went towards restoring, furnishing and purchasing equipment for the four classrooms and library given by the Chapel Virgen of Urkupina, of the Parish Hombres Nuevos, for the underprivileged children of the Village Plan 3000.

The BBQ was a resounding success and was attended by friends and supporters of the Daughters of Divine Zeal—the majority from the Italian and Filipino communities. Organised by our special friend, Nelson Estrella, everyone enjoyed a wonderful meal, catching up with old and new friends and renewing their association with the Sisters as can be seen below.
