To answer Jesus' divine command to send more workers into the Lord's harvest, the following prayers will help you to pray for vocations:

Prayer for Vocations

Shepherd God,
You show us the way to everlasting life. Through Baptism, you have called us to proclaim the Good News.

Bless and strengthen those who have made a commitment to service in the Church. Guide and give wisdom to those discerning their vocation.

Enrich our Church with dedicated married and single people, with deacons, priests and religious.

Filled with joy and your Holy Spirit, may we follow Jesus, our Good Shepherd, now and always.

Prayer to Jesus for Vocations

Son of God,
sent by the Father to the men and women of every time and of every part of the earth! We call upon you through Mary, your Mother and ours: may the Church not lack in vocations, especially those dedicated in a special way to your Kingdom.

Jesus, only Saviour of mankind!
We pray to you for our brothers and sisters who have answered YES to your call to the priesthood, to the consecrated life and to the missions.
May their lives be renewed day by day, to become a living Gospel.

Merciful and holy Lord, continue to send new labourers into the harvest of your Kingdom!
Assist those whom you call to follow you in our day; contemplating your face, may they respond with joy to the wondrous mission that you entrust to them for the good of your People and of all men and women.

Prayer for Vocations

Holy Father, look upon this humanity of ours, that is taking its first steps along the path of the Third Millennium.

Its life is still deeply marked by hatred, violence and oppression, but the thirst for justice, truth and grace still finds a space in the hearts of many people, who are waiting for someone to bring salvation, enacted by you through your Son Jesus.

There is the need for courageous heralds of the Gospel, for generous servants of suffering humanity.

Send holy priests to your church, we pray, who may sanctify your people with the tools of your grace.

Send numerous consecrated men and women, that they may show your holiness in the midst of the world.

Send holy labourers into your vineyard, that they may labour with the fervour of charity and, moved by your Holy Spirit, may bring the salvation of Christ to the farthest ends of the Earth.

Prayer for Enlightenment

Lord Jesus, who called the ones you wanted to call, call many of us to work for you, to work with you.

You who enlightened with your words those whom you called, enlighten us with faith in you.

You who supported them in their difficulties, help us to conquer the difficulties we have as young people today.

And if you call one of us to be consecrated completely to you, may your love give warmth to this vocation from its very beginning and make it grow and persevere to the end.

Lord, I thank you for the gifts you have given me, especially for life, love, family and friends.

Help me to know my talents and myself better.

As I pray, study and decide on my life's work, help me to see and understand the path you open for me.

Help me to choose a life's work which will be in response to my potential and your love.

If I am invited to follow as a Religious Sister, Missionary or lay consecrated, give me a generous heart to respond to your challenging call and the strength to follow you wherever you lead me.

Prayer for Vocations

We praise you, Lord,
for you have enriched your Church with the gift of the Priesthood, with the numerous forms of consecrated life and with countless other graces for the edification of your people and for the service of humanity.

We thank you, Lord,
for the continuously calling your children many of whom, in these past years and in various parts of the world, respond with increasing generosity.

We ask your pardon, Lord,
for our weakness and infidelity which possibly discourage others in responding to your call.

We fervently ask you, Lord,
to grant to your pastors of souls, to the religious men and women, to missionaries and to all those consecrated to you the gifts of wisdom, counsel, prudence in calling others to the total service of God and of the Church.

We also ask you to grant to a growing number of young and not so young men the generosity and courage to respond and to persevere.

We raise this humble prayer entrusting it to the intercession of Mary, Mother of the Church, Queen of the clergy, the perfect model of every soul consecrated to the service of the people of God.
